VCCS Voice over IP Services - Voice Services
The following provide instructions for using the VCCS Voice over IP Services to place telephone calls that would normally be charged as long distance calls when using the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). These instructions cover the use of regular telephone handsets connecting to either Centrex Services, PBX or Call Manager (CM) sites for voice services.
|
On-Net Calling (Caller is on-campus or at the office). |
Off-Net to On-Net Calling (Caller is off-campus). |
On-Net to Off-Net Calling (Caller is on-campus or at the office) |
|
Enter account number and customer pin number followed by the 10-digit telephone number to include area code. Note: Account number and pin number in step 3 pertain only to sites that have invoked the Off-net to On-net security procedures in their local 3640.
|
Enter the 10-digit telephone number to include area code.
Note: Because the area code is stripped from the forwarded 10 digits, it is not possible for an off-net long distance call to be made across the VoIP Network. |
Note: Steps outlined in blue indicate actions taken by the caller. The remaining steps are automated and will be initiated by the service.
VCCS Voice over IP Services - Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Services
The following provide instructions for using the VCCS Voice over IP Services to access the VCCS Student Information Services (SIS) Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Services.
|
On-Net Calling (Caller is on-campus). |
Off-Net to On-Net Calling (Caller is off-campus). |
Off-Net Calling (IVR will initiate an off-campus call). see note2 below |
Wait for dial tone. Enter special 10-digit telephone number representing the college. For example, 8142222910 represents BRCC. Note: The special 10-digit numbers are only valid when used on the VCCS VoIP Network. When entered outside the VCCS VoIP Network the result can be unpredictable.
Note: The Gatekeeper is not queried for SIS/IVR access. All calls for SIS/IVR are point to point.
|
Note: Depending on if you are a PBX, Centrex or a Call Manager site the entered 7-digits will function differently. A PBX or Centrex site 7-digit telephone number will automatically have the Colleges special 10-digit SIS/IVR number inserted and passed to the local college 3640 router by the telephone company. If you are a Call Manager site, you will enter the special 10-digit telephone number after the dial tone
|
An internal SIS process such as a Call Transfer or Credit Card call invokes an Off-net IVR initiated call.
|
Note 1: Steps outlined in blue indicate actions taken by the caller. The remaining steps are automated and will be initiated by the service.
Note 2: These instructions are only presented to illustrate how the IVR can be programmed to initiate an off-campus call. This function would be used to support applications such as credit card authorization.
