  2. Wait for dial tone.

  3. Enter account number and customer pin number followed by the 10-digit telephone number to include area code.

Note: Account number and pin number in step 3 pertain only to sites that have invoked the Off-net to On-net security procedures in their local 3640.

  1. Local 3640 will determine the appropriate IP address of the remote router by querying the Gatekeeper and route across Network Virginia.

  2. Remote 3640/Call Manager accepts 10-digit telephone number and forwards accordingly.

  3. PBX, Centrex or Call Manager service will connect the appropriate handset.
  1. Enter assigned college access code. For example: "8".

  2. Remote 3640/Gateway accepts 10-digit telephone number, strips area code and forwards accordingly.

  3. PBX, Centrex or Gateway forwards call to PSTN.

Note: Because the area code is stripped from the forwarded 10 digits, it is not possible for an off-net long distance call to be made across the VoIP Network.

Note: Steps outlined in blue indicate actions taken by the caller. The remaining steps are automated and will be initiated by the service.

VCCS Voice over IP Services - Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Services

The following provide instructions for using the VCCS Voice over IP Services to access the VCCS Student Information Services (SIS) Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Services.

On-Net Calling (Caller is on-campus).

Note: The special 10-digit numbers are only valid when used on the VCCS VoIP Network. When entered outside the VCCS VoIP Network the result can be unpredictable.

  4. Local 3640 will determine the appropriate IP address of the remote router and route across Network Virginia.

Note: The Gatekeeper is not queried for SIS/IVR access. All calls for SIS/IVR are point to point.

  1. Remote 3640 accepts the 10-digit telephone number, strips first six digits and forwards the remaining.

  2. IVR servers will analyze telephone
number and invoke the appropriate college script.

  1. Enter assigned 7-digit local telephone number. For example: "7953011"

Note: Depending on if you are a PBX, Centrex or a Call Manager site the entered 7-digits will function differently. 2. Remote 3640 accepts the10-digit telephone number, strips the first six digits and forwards the remaining to IVR servers.

  3. IVR servers will analyze telephone number and invoke the appropriate college script.

An internal SIS process such as a Call Transfer or Credit Card call invokes an Off-net IVR initiated call.

  1. SIS passes the 10-digit telephone number to the local 3640 Router.

  2. The local 3640 Router using the Gatekeeper  determines the appropriate IP address of the remote router and routes across Network Virginia.

  3. Remote 3640, depending on the destination (telephone number) of the call, may append or strip digits before forwarding to a PBX, Centrex, Call Manager or the PSTN.

Note 1:  Steps outlined in blue indicate actions taken by the caller. The remaining steps are automated and will be initiated by the service.

Note 2: These instructions are only presented to illustrate how the IVR can be programmed to initiate an off-campus call. This function would be used to support applications such as credit card authorization.
