The purpose of this document is to define the roles and responsible group or individual for administering security for the Student Information System.

VCCS Governance (Steering Committees, Technology Council, and PMO)

  1. Develop and publish the default security classes
  2.  Review and approve all requests for new security classes.

College

  1. Complete table setup. (A part of college model building process).
  2.  Review VCCS security classes and complete forms for any new classes that are required for the college or any that need to be changed.  
  3. Complete forms for the model security ids that will be used by the college.  

VCCS Information Security Officer

  1. Maintain all approved model security ids. (VCCS SIS Security Administration Panels)
  2. Maintain all approved security class codes. (VCCS SIS Security Administration Panels)
  3. Review request for new security classes and model ids and provide a recommendation. (Forms prepared by the Colleges).

College Information Security Officer or person(s) fulfilling that role

  1. Grant customer access to SIS. Use VCCS Directory Manager (DM).
  2. Assign model security ids to each customer. Use VCCS Directory Manager (DM).
  3. Change security related information stored in the customer's Directory account. Use VCCS Directory Manager (DM).
  4. Un-lock SA-HTML (SIS web) accounts when a customer's SIS account has locked because of entering the wrong password into the web several times.

Customer:

  1. Activate Directory account by assigning a customer id and pin #. Use the VCCS Customer Account Administration Manager (CAAM).
  2. Change password for Directory Account. Use the VCCS Customer Account Administration Manager (CAAM).
